Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Members of the Kolhan Bhoomi Bachao Samiti met Chairman Scheduled Castes, Tribes, Minorities, Backward Classes Welfare Committee, and co-MLA Lobin Hembram at the Circuit House in Chaibasa.
The members submitted a written complaint to the MLA about illegal encroachment on CNT land in Chaibasa by other tribals.
Committee Chairman Vinod Kumar Sawaiyan told Chairman Lobin Hembram that a total of eight acres of land belonging to four tribal villagers in Tungri of Chaibasa is in the illegal possession of non-tribal Banwari Lal Nevatiya.
Vinod Savaiya said to help the victims get justice in this situation. In addition, there is illegal occupation of hundreds of acres of CNT land by non-tribals in Dumbisai, Diliamarcha, Khaparsai, Sufalsai, Matkamahatu, and Neemdih areas.
Thanks to the help of corrupt officials, no action is taken against these squatters despite complaints. Vinod Kumar Sawaiyan also raised the issue of displacement due to the Kuju Dam.
He said the place of worship and Jaherthan of the tribals will also be destroyed due to displacement.
Lobin Hembram assured that he would look into the matter after hearing the complaint. There was also talk of checking an illegally occupied site.
Earlier, members of Bhoomi Bachao Samiti paid tribute to Purnachandra Pidhi on his birth anniversary at the Tata College campus by garlanding his statue.
